Germany made headlines in early 2024 when the parliament voted to legalize the recreational use of cannabis starting on April 1st, 2024.  

Now, German citizens and residents who have lived in the country longer than six months can legally possess up to 25 grams of cannabis in public and 50 grams of cannabis in private. They can also grow up to three plants in their homes for personal use.  

Medical marijuana is also legal in Germany and can be prescribed for a wide range of health conditions.

Yes, cannabis is partially legal in Germany. You cannot legally buy cannabis in Germany, but recreational use of the plant is legal.

Yes, citizens and residents aged 18 and above can legally cultivate up to three plants in their homes.

Yes, you can use cannabis in public in Germany, but only in certain places and at certain times. Adults and residents above 18 are allowed to consume cannabis as long as it's 100 meters away from schools, playgrounds, youth centers, or sports facilities. It is also not allowed to use cannabis in pedestrian zones between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m.
